Lokesh Kanagaraj Sets Record Straight on Kaithi 2 and LCU, Confirms Next Film With Allu Arjun

He said delays stem from scheduling and creative choices, not a salary demand.

Overview

  • At a Chennai press meet on January 26, the director said Kaithi 2 will follow his Allu Arjun project and reaffirmed commitments to Kaithi 2, Vikram 2 and a standalone Rolex film.
  • He explained he paused Kaithi 2 to pursue a rare Rajinikanth–Kamal Haasan collaboration, then exited after 1.5 months because the stars preferred a lighter film he did not want to make.
  • Lokesh said Karthi had already given dates to another film by the time he returned to Kaithi 2, which pushed the sequel further.
  • He rejected rumours of a pay dispute or an LCU shutdown, stating the universe will resume after the Allu Arjun film and that Benz, part of the LCU, is in production.
  • He indicated Kaithi 2 could start in 2027 if plans hold and noted a Suriya-led Rolex feature is in development.
