Overview
- Four people on a recreational boat crashed into Pier 4R near Logan Airport around 11:20 p.m. Wednesday, and all were taken to Massachusetts General Hospital where 24-year-old Elizabeth Dankert later died.
- Freedom Boat Club, which owns the vessel, said the boat was taken without authorization after the club had closed for the day.
- Boston EMS and Massport Fire rescued all four from rocks in darkness and slippery conditions, and Runway 4R closed briefly for the response without affecting overall airport service.
- Massachusetts State Police working with the Suffolk County DA are reviewing speed data and toxicology results, and no operator has been named or charges filed as of Friday.
- Dankert, of Andover, graduated from Union College in 2024 and worked at Boston software firm PTC, and her school and colleagues described her as a beloved teammate and coworker.
