Lloyds to Shut 95 More UK Branches Through 2027 as High‑Street Networks Shrink

Falling branch use pushes banks toward shared hubs to preserve access to cash.

Overview

  • Lloyds Banking Group will close 53 Lloyds, 31 Halifax and 11 Bank of Scotland branches between May 2026 and March 2027, with many dates clustered in June 2026.
  • Once the latest reductions are complete, the group expects to operate 610 branches in total, made up of 306 Lloyds, 238 Halifax and 66 Bank of Scotland sites.
  • Closure schedules published by local outlets show a heavy concentration in England, with smaller numbers in Scotland and Wales, and some sites remaining open until a recommended banking hub is delivered.
  • LINK said it has recommended 15 more banking hubs, and Cash Access UK reported 212 hubs now open, alongside free ATMs, Post Office services and PayPoint locations to maintain cash access.
  • The pullback is industry‑wide, with NatWest confirming 32 closures in 2026, as banks expand Community Banker support and say branch staff will be offered redeployment.
