Overview
- Halifax has confirmed six additional closures for 2026, including Birmingham Bearwood on March 2 plus Horsforth on February 24, Nelson on March 4, Camborne on October 7 and Buxton (Spring Gardens) on October 13.
- Lloyds Bank plans 40 closures across 2026, with several sites already shut in January and further closures scheduled through March, including Liverpool Breck Road on March 4, Houghton le Spring on March 10 and Manchester Moston on March 11.
- Across Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland, 19 branches are scheduled to shut in February 2026, with Lloyds accounting for 11, Halifax for five and Bank of Scotland for three.
- Lloyds Banking Group says closures reflect customers’ shift to digital banking, directing people to services at more than 11,000 Post Office branches, shared banking hubs, telephone banking, Community Bankers, PayPoint deposits and Talking ATMs.
- Halifax says it will follow FCA guidance FG 22/6 and publish Closing Branch Review documents that explain each decision and summarise community feedback ahead of closure dates.
