Livingston School Officer Fired and Arrested Over Alleged Improper Relationship With Student

Following an outside Texas Rangers probe, investigators are still seeking tips.

Overview

  • Ryan Boyd, 45, a Livingston Police Department officer assigned to Livingston High School, was terminated and arrested on a second-degree felony charge of improper relationship between an educator and a student.
  • Texas Rangers took Boyd into custody during the criminal probe, and he was booked into the Polk County Jail.
  • Livingston ISD reported the allegation earlier this month, after which Boyd was removed from the campus and placed on administrative leave.
  • Texas DPS and the Texas Rangers conducted the criminal investigation while the Livingston Police Department ran a separate internal policy review.
  • The school district said campus officers are LPD employees who serve under a city agreement, and LPD urged anyone with information to contact the Polk County District Attorney’s Office because the case remains active.
