Overview
- The evacuation at the Radisson Blu, which unfolded Thursday evening, followed a fire at the rear of the Old Hall Street hotel.
- Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said an external industrial bin store next to the 11‑storey building caught fire and pushed smoke into parts of the hotel.
- Crews were alerted at 8:12pm and had the flames out by 8:23pm using hose jets, with four fire engines, an aerial appliance, police, ambulances and NHS Incident Response Units on scene.
- Police closed sections of Old Hall Street and nearby Brook Street during the response, then guests re‑entered at about 9:30pm and traffic reopened.
- North West Ambulance Service reported no injuries, and firefighters carried out checks on every floor after smoke damaged some exterior cladding; operations were stood down at 11:08pm.
