Overview
- The eastbound train from Jamaica to Ronkonkoma struck a vehicle around 7:15 p.m. at the Little East Neck Road crossing east of the Pinelawn station, transit police said.
- Three adult passengers reported injuries, with one treated at the scene and two taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital; no injuries were reported to the crew or the vehicle’s occupants.
- Roughly 40 riders were evacuated and provided bus service after the collision, which set the vehicle on fire, authorities said.
- Service on the Ronkonkoma Branch was suspended east of Farmingdale Monday night and resumed Tuesday morning with delays, rerouted trains between Farmingdale and Deer Park, and buses still operating between Farmingdale and Ronkonkoma.
- MTA Police opened an investigation with assistance from the Suffolk County Police Department as crews assessed and repaired track damage.
