Lionsgate Takes ‘The Furious’ Global, Sets 2026 Theatrical Release

  • Edko Films financed the film and will release it day-and-date in those territories alongside Lionsgate’s launch, with the deal negotiated by Brandon Hill, Pip Ngo and Michael J. Werner.
  • The film premiered in September at Toronto’s Midnight Madness, where it drew strong audience response for its old-school martial-arts focus.
  • The project marks Tanigaki’s first feature as director, produced by Bill Kong, with a screenplay by Mak Tin Shu, Lei Zhilong, Shum Kwan Sin and Frank Hui.
  • The story follows tradesman Wang Wei as he joins a relentless journalist to battle an international criminal network after his daughter is abducted.
