Lions Rookie Kendrick Law Out for 2026 After Torn ACL

The fifth-round pick tore his ACL during a non-contact OTA drill, removing a projected depth receiver and return option and prompting Detroit to sign an undrafted wideout to the offseason roster.

Overview

  • Head coach Dan Campbell confirmed that Kendrick Law suffered a torn ACL in a non-contact drill during OTAs and will miss the entire 2026 season.
  • Law was a fifth-round pick (No. 168) out of Kentucky who posted 53 catches for 540 yards in 2025 and was valued for his kickoff and punt return ability.
  • Detroit added undrafted receiver Kyre Duplessis to the 90-man roster on Thursday to help plug the depth and special-teams hole created by Law’s injury.
  • Law had been projected as roughly the No. 5 receiver and the team’s primary kickoff return option, leaving veterans and young receivers such as Greg Dortch, Cedrick Wilson Jr., Tom Kennedy, Dominic Lovett and Isaac TeSlaa to compete for the open roles.
  • The injury puts Law on a long rehab path with the team planning for his recovery over the next year while highlighting Detroit’s recent struggles with offseason injuries and the effect those losses can have on roster continuity.
