Overview
- The child was taken from a home on the Gir forest boundary in Pichhvi village, Gir Gadhada taluka, on Wednesday morning.
- Forest teams arrived around 10:50 am and recovered the girl's half-eaten body nearly one kilometre inside the jungle.
- A lioness was captured around 1 pm and will be examined to confirm its involvement in the attack.
- The body was sent to the Gir Gadhada community health centre and returned to the family after a post-mortem.
- Minister Pravin Mali said the family will receive Rs 10 lakh in compensation on Thursday.
