Lima Sees Planned Water and Power Cuts for Maintenance

Utilities say the work will improve reliability.

Overview

  • Sedapal, which set a maintenance window for Wednesday, is cutting water in parts of Lima for hours, with some zones in Villa María del Triunfo and Pueblo Libre facing up to 16 hours without service.
  • The utility says the suspensions allow reservoir cleaning, pipe connections, and network works that are meant to steady pressure and reduce future failures.
  • Districts on Wednesday’s list include Villa María del Triunfo, Pueblo Libre, and Puente Piedra, with street-level sectors and start–end times posted on Sedapal’s site.
  • To ease the impact, Sedapal is sending tanker trucks, urging homes to store only what they need in clean containers, and warning against leaving standing water that can breed mosquitoes.
  • Pluz Energía is also carrying out planned power cuts Wednesday across Lima and Callao and has schedules for Thursday and Friday that run up to 10 hours, while SEAL confirmed localized outages in Arequipa.
