Overview
- The Municipalidad Metropolitana de Lima opened a new issuance center at Avenida Grau 169 on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, to handle driving-license procedures for classes A and B.
- The office will operate Monday–Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and the MML says processing times have fallen to about 15–25 minutes.
- Users first pass through an orientation desk where staff validate DNI and check for blocks such as JNE fines or MTC sanctions before guiding applicants to payment by Yape or card and license issuance.
- The center handles first issuances, duplicates, revalidations and recategorizations with published fees, and revalidation specifically requires a medical exam and any required knowledge test.
- The Grau office complements the Comas site by letting applicants take exams in Comas and collect documents in Cercado in about 25 minutes, and the MML—having issued roughly 30,000 licenses since April 22—plans more centers in Lima Sur and Lima Este to spread capacity and cut congestion.
