Lima Lifts Temporary Vehicle Ban in Centro Histórico

The city restored traffic to the UNESCO‑listed historic center to revive tourism and commerce while keeping the ability to reinstate controls if protests endanger public order.

  • The move sits on a 2023 local rule that made the Centro Histórico a 'zona intangible' to protect its UNESCO World Heritage value and the mayor warned restrictions will be reimposed if new demonstrations threaten the site or public safety.
