Lima Extends Election-Day Transit Hours to Guarantee Continuous Service

ATU will boost schedules to ease voting-day travel.

  • ATU, which oversees transport in Lima and Callao, confirmed uninterrupted service for voters on Sunday, April 12 with earlier start times near 5 a.m.
  • Metropolitano will run its regular A, B and C routes from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., reflecting an ATU update that extends service one hour beyond some earlier 10 p.m. reports.
  • Metro Línea 1 will operate from 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. with 350 trips, adding 96 runs over a typical Sunday to handle higher turnout.
  • Metro Línea 2 keeps its usual 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. schedule with 290 trips, while complementary corridors run 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., feeder buses to 11 p.m., and regular buses from 4:30 a.m. to midnight based on demand.
  • To keep service steady as staff vote, ATU set staggered shifts for drivers and confirmed 24-hour operation for authorized taxis.
