Overview
- The municipal restriction, issued by Resolución de Subgerencia N.° 002413-2026-GMU-SER, took effect at 00:00 on Saturday and will remain in force until 00:00 on Monday, covering a perimeter in the Cercado de Lima.
- The Policía Nacional del Perú is responsible for executing access closures and traffic control inside the perimeter, with the Autoridad de Transporte Urbano coordinating possible changes to Metropolitano and corridor services.
- The municipality deployed ground patrols, checkpoints at major city access points and surveillance tools including drones with AI and roughly 1,000 cameras to monitor the zone and deter vandalism.
- Business groups and the Lima Chamber of Commerce publicly backed the measure as necessary to protect commerce and heritage, while the party Juntos por el Perú condemned the closure as arbitrary and said it restricts the right to protest.
