Lima and Callao Face Planned Water and Power Cuts Through June 14

Utility operators say the interruptions are scheduled maintenance to clean reservoirs, install valves and reinforce distribution networks to improve future supply.

Overview

  • Sedapal put a new round of scheduled water interruptions into effect on Friday, June 12, with localized outages across districts such as San Juan de Lurigancho, Los Olivos, Lince and Ate.
  • Pluz Energía published a multi-day electricity schedule from June 12 to June 14 that will halt power in parts of Lima and Callao for up to about 10 hours in some sectors.
  • Both operators released neighborhood-level timetables giving specific start and end times for each affected zone so residents can plan around the outages.
  • Sedapal deployed tanker trucks to supply the most affected areas and told users to store clean, covered water and to call its Aquafono at (01) 317-8000 if service is not restored.
  • Officials say the works — reservoir cleaning, pipe empalmes, valve installation and network reinforcement — are preventive steps to strengthen storage and distribution, but the outages may disrupt homes, small businesses and services during the scheduled hours.
