Lightning Strikes Across Karnataka and Kerala Kill Four, Injure Several

  • Raichur police registered a case at Mudgal Police Station after the Komalapur strike that seriously injured Basavaraj, while Jayashree’s husband in Dharwad suffered minor injuries and the body was sent for postmortem.
  • In Kerala’s Kozhikode district, police said Jaison died at a poultry farm in Koombara and five others were hurt in separate strikes in Koombara and Nerukumchal, with the injured reported stable.
  • May’s pre-monsoon thunderstorms often bring dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning, and officials noted a similar deadly strike in nearby Malappuram the previous week.
