LIDO Festival Cancels Two June Dates, Moves Remaining Day to Aug. 31

The shift follows expert advice to let Victoria Park’s newly reseeded turf recover after an unusually wet winter.

Overview

  • LIDO organizers announced Thursday that the June 12 and June 14 shows are canceled and the remaining program will run on August 31 with Maribou State headlining.
  • Tickets for the canceled dates will be refunded in full, while tickets for Maribou State transfer to the new August 31 date.
  • Organizers said they acted to protect the park’s restored turf after heavy rain this winter, following guidance to give the ground more time to recover.
  • Artists affected voiced regret, with CMAT calling the loss of her June 12 set “truly devastated” and Bombay Bicycle Club telling fans the June 14 cancellation was out of their hands.
  • The decision was made by the promoter with Tower Hamlets’ permission, AEG’s community funding commitments remain in place, and the change follows last year’s dust problems at Victoria Park and a run of London festival disruptions.
