Lidl and Aldi Cut Prices on Dozens of Private-Label Coffees in Germany

Falling coffee-bean costs are driving a new round of price competition.

Overview

  • German discounters have lowered shelf prices this week on store-brand coffee, with typical cuts of 10 to 50 cents per pack.
  • Lidl now sells 25 Bellarom items at permanently reduced prices across all roughly 3,250 German stores with no regional differences.
  • Aldi has trimmed prices on 33 Barissimo products effective immediately, with some reductions varying between Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd.
  • The adjustments cover whole beans, ground coffee, pads and capsules, so frequent buyers can expect smaller totals at checkout across formats.
  • Retailers cite cheaper green-coffee costs, and a DPA survey shows similar moves across supermarkets, yet official data say coffee remains noticeably pricier than in 2023.
