LG and Nvidia Team Up to Build Jetson Thor Humanoid and Large-Scale AI Factories

The deal pairs Nvidia's robotics compute, safety stack, models with LG's manufacturing and component supply to scale physical AI across homes, factories, vehicles.

Overview

  • LG and Nvidia signed a memorandum of understanding on Thursday at Nvidia's Santa Clara headquarters to cooperate on humanoid robots, AI factories and mobility.
  • LG said it will unveil a next-generation bipedal humanoid in Q1 2027 that will run on Nvidia's Jetson Thor, be developed from the Isaac GR00T humanoid foundation model, and use Nvidia's Holoscan/Halos safety architecture.
  • LG has set up a pilot production line in Changwon and has begun initial production work on the humanoid while operating hundreds of CLOiD robots in a Seoul data factory to collect training data.
  • The partners published a roadmap that includes a physical AI reference site planned for H1 2027 and a planned 80-megawatt AI factory in Cheonan targeted for H1 2028 to train and validate robot foundation models.
  • LG will supply core hardware through its affiliates—actuators from LG Electronics, sensors from LG Innotek, batteries from LG Energy Solution—and plans a Tennessee deployment of a wheeled CLOiD on a washing machine line by year-end to test real-world performance.
