LFP Media Pushes Back on Canal+ Plan to Carry Ligue 1+ Absent Key Conditions

The league’s media arm conditioned carriage on withdrawn lawsuits with parity on packaging.

Overview

  • Canal+ said it is ready to distribute the new Ligue 1+ channel starting next season.
  • LFP Media replied that any deal requires Canal+ to withdraw eight lawsuits seeking about €660 million.
  • The league also demanded treatment on par with European competitions in Canal+ packages and cited DAZN’s past carriage on Canal+ that yielded only 90,000 sign-ups.
  • Canal+ argued it can boost reach thanks to strong Champions League audiences and wants French league coverage kept inside its sports bundle, with an earlier ask for a €10 monthly price.
  • LFP Media said Ligue 1+ prices will be announced in June with higher rates and loyalty bonuses as the 2026–27 launch approaches.
