Lexus Adds Native EV Route Planning to 2026 ES With Arene Platform

The move closes a long-running gap in the brands’ EVs versus rivals.

Overview

  • Lexus confirmed the 2026 ES will run Toyota’s Arene software platform, introducing first-party EV route planning that works with a paid Drive Connect trial or subscription.
  • The new EV Range Map calculates trips with charging stops, estimates battery on arrival, and shows station names, addresses, hours, charger type, real-time availability, and maximum kW output.
  • A redesigned 14-inch interface brings a tablet-like home screen with widgets, a faster Lexus Voice Assistant with male or female voices, and a standard Drive Recorder that loops video, flags incidents with a G-sensor, and allows USB downloads.
  • U.S. models add AT&T 5G, SiriusXM 360L, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, built-in Spotify, and an upgraded Digital Key that supports sharing and NFC access even if a phone battery dies.
  • The ES 350e is rated at up to 307 miles EPA from a 74.7 kWh battery, U.S. pricing starts around $49,000 depending on trim, and reporters note it’s unclear if other Toyota and Subaru EVs will gain this routing via over-the-air updates or future hardware.
