Overview
- Lewis Moody set off from Kingston Park in Newcastle on Sunday for a seven‑day, roughly 500‑mile cycling challenge heading south toward Twickenham.
- The route includes planned stops in Ripon, Worksop, Leicester, Bath, Bracknell and Oakham and is scheduled to finish at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham on June 20 with delivery of the Gallagher Premiership final matchball.
- Doddie Weir’s wife Kathy and son Hamish joined Moody and his family on the first stage and a rotating roster of rugby figures such as Jonny Wilkinson, Martin Johnson, Jason Robinson and Tom Croft will join stages to amplify the campaign.
- Moody is aiming to raise £777,777 for the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation, which has committed more than £23.5m to MND research since 2017.
- Moody, who revealed his own MND diagnosis last year, said the ride continues Doddie Weir’s campaigning legacy and could drive fresh donations and public attention that help speed research into treatments.
