Let It Die to Shut Down Online Service in Late August as Paid Offline Edition Launches This Fall

A paid Offline Edition preserves the game by replacing microtransactions with earnable currency, with save transfers supported.

Overview

  • The existing app will be discontinued on August 30 at 7 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET, and servers will go offline on August 31 at 7 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET (September 1 BST/CEST).
  • The Offline Edition will require a one-time purchase or DLC for existing players on PlayStation and Steam, with release date and price still unannounced.
  • Players can transfer save data to the Offline Edition, including PS4 to PS5 via PlayStation ID, though cross-save between PlayStation and Steam is not supported.
  • Real-money sales of Death Metal and the Express Pass have ended, and remaining balances can only be used until Thursday, July 30, 2026.
  • Live-service features are being reworked or removed, with Death Metal functions shifting to earnable Kill Coins, Tokyo Death Metro raids targeting CPU bases, and Battle Rush, R&D time shortening, and Hernia vending discontinued.
