Lenovo’s Gen 7 ThinkPads Put 50-TOPS AI and Repairability Front and Center

Processor parity shifts the decision from AI specs to fleet needs.

Overview

  • Lenovo, which detailed the Gen 7 ThinkPad X13, L14/L16 and ThinkStation P4 on Tuesday, set May availability for the laptops with the X13 starting at $1,499 and the L14/L16 at $1,439, and targeted June for the P4 with pricing to be announced.
  • Both Intel Core Ultra Series 3 and AMD Ryzen AI/Pro 400 options hit the same 50 TOPS NPU threshold, enabling on-device Copilot+ features such as Studio Effects, Live Captions, and local AI tasks without an internet connection.
  • Lenovo says the X13 Gen 7 and L14 Gen 7 earned a 9/10 iFixit repairability score, with user-replaceable parts including the battery, SSD, WWAN module, and the D cover to lower long-term service costs.
  • The new ThinkPads bring modern fleet staples like Wi‑Fi 7 and Thunderbolt 4, with configurations up to 64GB of memory and up to 2TB of storage to fit common enterprise rollouts.
  • The ThinkStation P4 pairs AMD Ryzen P9000 Pro CPUs with NVIDIA RTX 6000 Pro Series Blackwell GPUs and offers PCIe Gen 5 expansion, with Lenovo indicating general availability in June and pricing to follow.
