Lego Turns Fan's Wallace & Gromit Design Into Retail Set

The 1,038-piece motorbike-and-sidecar kit was adapted by Lego designers and marketed as an adult collectible to showcase the company’s fan-driven product pipeline.

Overview

  • Preorders for the official Wallace & Gromit Lego Ideas set are live on Lego.com at $99.99 and the kit is scheduled to ship on October 1, 2026.
  • The 1,038-piece build recreates Wallace and Gromit on their motorbike and sidecar from the 1995 short A Close Shave and includes small Easter-egg accessories such as crackers, a yarn ball, and a diamond.
  • The retail product is based on a prize-winning fan entry by Sébastien Esnault that won Lego’s '90s Throwback competition and was adapted for store release by Lego Model Designers Tom Gerardin and Ellen Bowley.
  • Under Lego Ideas rules the fan creator will receive 1% of total net sales, 10 complimentary copies of the set, and formal credit on official materials.
  • The release highlights Lego’s use of fan submissions and nostalgia to target adult collectors and shows how designers translated claymation features into brick-built, poseable figures using rounded elements and movable parts.
