Overview
- South Korean President Lee Jae Myung will visit France from Sept. 6–9 and will co-chair the one-day Lumière Summit with President Emmanuel Macron on Sept. 7 in Saint-Paul-de-Vence.
- Organizers say the summit will gather representatives from more than 55 countries and roughly 150 politicians, policymakers and film figures alongside major studios and talent agencies such as Disney, Netflix and CAA.
- The summit agenda will focus on how the film and video industry should respond to artificial intelligence, compete with social media platforms and develop new funding and distribution models for markets like sub‑Saharan Africa and South Asia.
- Following the summit Lee will take part in a state visit in Paris that includes a one‑on‑one luncheon with Macron, an Elysee banquet, a business roundtable of about 20 French and South Korean companies, and meetings with parliamentary and OECD leaders.
- South Korea says the trip aims to turn cultural diplomacy into concrete cooperation on security and advanced technology including AI, aerospace and biotech, with developing talks also flagged on nuclear collaboration and possible troop deployment to the Strait of Hormuz.
