Leaked Tips Name Two 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Chips and Several 3nm Variants

Unverified Weibo posts say the chips split GPU power and memory support in ways that could force phone makers to choose higher performance or lower-cost flagship options.

Overview

  • The Friday leaks, attributed to Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station, identify SM8975 as a 2nm 'Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro' and SM8950 as a 2nm 'Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6'.
  • Both 2nm parts are reported to use a 2+3+3 Oryon CPU cluster with a shared 16MB L2 cache while the Pro would pair an Adreno 850 GPU with 18MB GMEM and the standard chip an Adreno 845 with 12MB GMEM.
  • The Pro model is said to support LPDDR6 and LPDDR5X memory while the standard Gen 6 would support only LPDDR5X, a split that could widen performance and price gaps between flagship phones.
  • The tipster also names multiple 3nm Snapdragon variants including SM8850Q and SM8845 Pro that could appear under refreshed Elite or Gen 6/Gen 5 Pro brands.
  • All claims remain unconfirmed by Qualcomm, MediaTek, or TSMC and sources warn the leaks are preliminary; if the usual product cadence holds the first phones using these chips could arrive in the October–December period.
