Leaked Rating Points to Unannounced Metroid Ravenous

The brief, removed Brazilian classification suggests Nintendo may be preparing a near-term 2D Metroid follow-up for Switch 2.

Overview

  • A listing for a game called Metroid Ravenous was captured and shared online after appearing briefly on Brazil’s Ministry of Justice and Public Security ratings site on July 1.
  • The screenshot and reports show the entry listed 2026 as the year of production, gave a 12+ rating for violence and light sexual content, and said roughly 41 minutes of material were submitted for review.
  • Nintendo of America was named as the filer on the submission but the rating page was quickly removed and Nintendo has not confirmed the project.
  • Many outlets and commentators say the name and timing make a 2D or 2.5D follow-up to 2021’s Metroid Dread the most likely fit and point to MercurySteam as a plausible but unconfirmed developer.
  • VGC’s editor has suggested more than one Metroid project could be in development, a claim that would expand the story if corroborated and could shape Nintendo’s release plans for Switch 2 this year.
