LDS Church Sets Dedication Dates for Knoxville and Smithfield Temples

The First Presidency released detailed open-house schedules with broadcast plans that finalize earlier announcements.

Overview

  • The First Presidency announced the schedules in a press release on Monday, Sept. 14, 2026, confirming dates, media days and invited-guest tours for both temples.
  • The Knoxville Tennessee Temple will be dedicated on Sunday, March 7, 2027, by Elder David A. Bednar and will hold a public open house Jan. 27–Feb. 13, 2027, with media day Jan. 25 and invited tours Jan. 26.
  • The Smithfield Utah Temple will be dedicated on Sunday, April 18, 2027, by Elder Quentin L. Cook and will hold a public open house Feb. 25–Mar. 27, 2027, with media day Feb. 22 and invited tours Feb. 23–24.
  • Both dedicatory services will be broadcast to units within their respective temple districts so members who do not attend in person can join the ceremonies.
  • The announcements formalize plans first revealed in earlier church actions — Smithfield was announced in April 2021 with a 2022 groundbreaking and Knoxville was announced in April 2022 with a 2024 groundbreaking — and slot these dedications alongside near-term events such as the Ephraim dedication on Oct. 11, 2026, and the Salt Lake Temple public open house beginning in April 2027.
