LayerZero Sets Nov. 30 Launch for Zero Mainnet and Open ATLAS

The company is pairing a ZK‑verified, high‑throughput blockchain with a headless exchange engine that channels most trading fees into ZRO buybacks and burns.

Overview

  • LayerZero announced on Oct. 20 that Zero mainnet and Open ATLAS (lzATLAS) will go live on Nov. 30, 2026, with Open ATLAS set to support more than a dozen trading venues at launch.
  • Open ATLAS is a 'headless' exchange engine that runs matching, clearing, and settlement as a backend for third‑party venues so venues supply the user interfaces while ATLAS handles trade execution.
  • LayerZero says ATLAS is provisioned for about 200,000 transactions per second with sub‑millisecond median latency in tests and that Zero’s zoned, ZK‑verified design targets much higher per‑zone throughput over time.
  • Open ATLAS will rebate venues 20%–65% of fees and then split the remainder so 25% goes to market creators and 75% is used to buy and burn ZRO, tying token deflation directly to trading volume.
  • The project leans on institutional ties — including Citadel Securities, Google Cloud, and an Anchorage integration that names Tether’s USAT as a supported bank stablecoin — but LayerZero’s performance claims and ZRO burns depend on real‑world venue adoption and sustained trading volume.
