LASD Seizes $7 Million in Stolen Goods, $1 Million in Cash in Southern California Cargo-Theft Probe

Detectives will send the case to the Los Angeles County district attorney for charging decisions.

  • Investigators served 13 search warrants across Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino counties during a two-month operation.
  • Nine suspects were taken into custody on allegations including grand theft cargo, money laundering and receiving stolen property.
  • Recovered goods ranged from TVs, power tools and appliances to golf carts, ATVs and plush toys.
  • The Sheriff's Department said roughly 36 companies were hit, naming retailers and brands such as Costco, Disney, Monster Energy, Dollar General and Marshalls.
  • LASD’s Organized Retail Crimes Task Force worked with its Cargo Criminal Apprehension Team, Burglary and Robbery Task Force and with local and federal partners.
