Overview
- A fire broke out in an empty chicken shed on Checkley Lane, Bridgemere, early on Friday morning and the blaze grew to involve a structure of roughly four acres.
- Fire services from Cheshire, Shropshire and Staffordshire attended with up to ten fire engines and a high-volume pump sent from Greater Manchester to bolster operations.
- Crews fought the blaze externally using multiple hose reels and main jets while a CFRS drone unit monitored the scene and the incident was sectorised as it came under control.
- There were no reported injuries, but images and reports indicate the shed roof was destroyed and firefighters remain on site conducting monitoring and damping-down to prevent re-ignition.
- Nearby residents were urged to keep doors and windows closed because of a large smoke plume and authorities say prolonged attendance is likely while damage and safety risks are assessed.
