Laporta Says UEFA Threatened to Bar Barcelona From Next Champions League

Speaking at Barcelona’s October 19 General Assembly, Joan Laporta disclosed that UEFA considered excluding the team over repeated Financial Fair Play breaches.
Laporta said UEFA’s initial proposals included roughly €60 million in fines before talks produced the €15 million settlement.
Barcelona previously paid a €500,000 penalty in 2024 for an earlier FFP infringement.
Laporta defended the club’s “levers” as temporary transfers, noting that 25% of future TV rights were ceded to secure liquidity without charging members.
He reported a €2 million surplus on €994 million in revenue and €259 million in sponsorships, while confirming the planned Miami match against Villarreal to generate atypical income.
