- Locals launched a GoFundMe in late June to raise about $150,000 for a roughly 100-metre rock seawall and have collected more than $40,000 from over 100 donors including a $20,000 anonymous offline gift.
- Recent severe weather has accelerated erosion and pushed the shoreline to within about seven metres of the Lancelin Sands Hotel, heightening fears of imminent damage to the hotel and neighbouring caravan park.
