Lafayette Breaks Ground on $588,000 Thomas Park Tennis Courts Upgrade

Work is expected to take about six months under a plan designed by Chase Marshall Architects with Geo Surfaces as contractor.

Overview

  • A Oct. 27 ceremony marked the start of Phase II at Thomas Park with Mayor-President Monique Boulet, Councilwoman Liz Hebert, Interim PARC Director Brian McGrath, and members of the Acadiana Community Tennis Association in attendance.
  • The project will replace aging facilities with four new competition-grade tennis courts.
  • Funding totals $588,000, drawn from City Sales Tax revenue and a State Treasury appropriation.
  • Construction now shifts the project from planning to active site work in Lafayette.
  • Officials said a public mural and exterior improvements to the recreation center will begin soon.
