Overview
- Labor Day is observed on Monday, Sept. 7, and federal offices, federal courts and many state offices will be closed that day.
- The U.S. Postal Service will close retail locations and suspend regular residential and business mail delivery on Monday, Sept. 7; Priority Mail Express remains available.
- Banks and credit unions will close for the federal holiday and bank processing will be paused under the Federal Reserve holiday schedule, so some transfers and deposits may not post until the next business day.
- Standard UPS and FedEx pickup and delivery services will not run on Labor Day though select critical and custom services will operate and some retail locations may have limited hours.
- Most major retailers and grocery chains will be open for shopping while Costco is closed, and AAA reports higher airfare and gasoline prices that are likely to raise travel costs over the holiday weekend.
