LA28 to Open Volunteer Applications July 14 for 60,000 Olympic and Paralympic Roles

The move begins a two-year countdown to staff Games operations across Los Angeles plus seven U.S. host cities, signaling reliance on existing venues as well as community volunteers.

Overview

  • LA28 announced Monday that its Games-time volunteer portal will open July 14, exactly two years before the Opening Ceremony, and organizers are seeking roughly 60,000 volunteers for the Olympic and Paralympic periods.
  • Applicants must be at least 18, proficient in English, and commit to a minimum of 10 shifts of about eight hours each during the March–August 2028 Olympic window or the August–September 2028 Paralympic window.
  • Roles will range from guest services and venue operations to specialized work such as medical support, language translation, driving, ceremonies, communications, sport operations, and technology positions.
  • Most assignments will be in greater Los Angeles, with additional needs in Oklahoma City, New York, Columbus, Nashville, St. Louis, San José and San Diego as LA28 uses existing national venues to limit new construction.
  • LA28 began building a volunteer culture in 2025 through more than 25 community events in partnership with Delta, a campaign designed to give applicants experience, strengthen local ties, and streamline Games-time staffing.
