LA28 Sets July 14 Opening for 60,000 Olympic and Paralympic Volunteers

Organizers say volunteers will staff events across U.S. host cities using existing facilities, reducing costs, deepening local volunteer ties.

Overview

  • LA28 announced Monday that its Games-time volunteer application portal will open on July 14, 2026, exactly two years before the 2028 Opening Ceremony.
  • The organizing committee is seeking about 60,000 volunteers who must be at least 18 years old and commit to a minimum of 10 nonconsecutive shifts of roughly eight hours during the Olympic or Paralympic service windows.
  • Volunteer roles will range from general guest services to specialized positions such as medical support and language translation, and applicants can specify preferred locations and skills when they apply.
  • Most assignments will be in greater Los Angeles but significant staffing is planned for other U.S. host and support cities including Oklahoma City, New York, Columbus, Nashville, St. Louis, San José and San Diego.
  • The volunteer push builds on LA28’s 2025 community program partnership with Delta and will feed into venue readiness, workforce hiring and ticketing plans as organizers notify pre-registered candidates with next steps ahead of the July 14 launch.
