LA County Begins Mailing June Primary Ballots

County guidance details return options, deadlines, security measures.

Overview

  • Los Angeles County has begun sending vote-by-mail packets for the June 2 primary, which include contests from governor to Los Angeles mayor.
  • After marking choices, voters should place the ballot in the official return envelope, seal it, sign and date the back, then return it by mail, at an official drop box, or at a vote center starting May 23.
  • Ballots postmarked on Election Day will count if they reach officials within seven days, and the registrar recommends mailing at least a week early to avoid delays.
  • Voters who want a mailed ballot must register by May 18, and same-day registration with a provisional ballot is available from May 19 through Election Day.
  • More than 400 county drop boxes are bolted or chained in place, built with state-required security features, cleared by two election workers, monitored with local partners, and supported by a ballot-tracking tool for voters.
