Kyoto and Osaka Announce November Festivals Showcasing Local Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry

Student-led tastings with hands-on demos aim to deepen public connection to regional food.

  • Kyoto Prefecture will hold its Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Festival on November 29–30 at Kyoto Pulse Plaza, featuring roughly 100 exhibitor booths.
  • Program highlights in Kyoto include a Kyoto tuna disassembly show, a mock fish auction, and chef-prepared meal sets using Kyoto rice priced at ¥1,000, capped at 150 servings per session.
  • The Kyoto festival marks its 53rd edition since 1970 after drawing about 49,000 visitors last year.
  • Osaka will host the Urban Agriculture Festa meets Gakuen-sai on November 9 at Osaka Sogo Hoiku University junior college with talk sessions and student-devised tastings using haze broth and the certified traditional vegetable Katsuma kabocha.
  • The Osaka City Agricultural Fair follows on November 15 at Nagai Park’s Freedom Square with a produce competition, on-the-spot sales of city-grown crops including traditional vegetables, free admission, and a 10:00–14:30 program.
