Konami Confirms 4K/60 MGS4 in Master Collection Vol. 2 While Original Switch Is Capped at 30fps

Official platform tables set per-system resolutions, selectable image modes and storage needs and warn that frame rates can vary before the August 27 Switch launch.

Overview

  • Konami published an official technical breakdown on July 22, 2026 that lists resolution and frame-rate targets and shows Metal Gear Solid 4 aiming for 4K at 60fps on PS5, Xbox Series X and PC.
  • The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to target 60fps with higher output and internal resolutions in TV and handheld modes, while the original Nintendo Switch is limited to 30fps with lower output and internal resolutions.
  • Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will offer selectable image and upscaling modes including a High Resolution option on Switch 2 and other modern platforms, but those modes are not planned for the original Switch.
  • Konami's published tables include approximate required storage per platform and explicit caveats that frame rates are variable and may drop during heavy effects or certain cutscenes.
  • The Master Collection Vol. 2 is scheduled to arrive for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch on August 27, 2026, a release that restores MGS4 performance for modern hardware and could change how players and preservationists experience the game.
