Overview
- King Gizzard announced the short Australian tour on Monday, July 27, confirming dates from Oct. 13–18 that open with shows in Thirroul and Sydney and culminate in the two‑day Croxton Block Party on Oct. 17–18.
- The Croxton Block Party bill was curated by the band and features international and Australian underground acts including Shonen Knife, C.O.F.F.I.N., Babe Rainbow and Heavy Moss while King Gizzard will close each night with a three‑hour headline set.
- Frontman Stu Mackenzie will perform a solo Eurorack/modular synth set at the Block Party and several more artists are listed as 'to be announced', with an artist presale running for 48 hours from July 28 and general sale on July 31.
- Through a partnership with climate agency FEAT the band pledged $1 from every Block Party ticket to fund Lungtalanana Island restoration, a Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre‑led project aiming to restore habitat and reintroduce species such as the Bass Strait wombat.
- The run follows the band’s recent announcement of their 28th album, Alien Metal, and builds on a long relationship with the Croxton that began with King Gizzard’s first show there in December 2015, giving a national platform to the Melbourne venue and its music community.
