Overview
- King Gizzard announced the album on Wednesday, July 8, saying Alien Metal will arrive later this summer on the band’s p(doom) label.
- The group says the eight-track record was written and recorded entirely on their custom modular synthesizer rig nicknamed Nathan, which all six members operate in live sets.
- The lead single “Level 5” was released the same day with a Hayden Somerville-directed video that features veteran Australian actor Vince Colosimo.
- Band members say the album emerged after years of scrapped attempts and that every finished track grew out of a single hour-long improvisational jam that became the project’s foundation.
- King Gizzard will preview Alien Metal material during August U.S. dates, including Field Of Vision in Colorado, three nights at Forest Hills Stadium with a billed rave night, and an added Brooklyn rave set.
