- King Charles attended the Royal Shakespeare Company's sold-out performance of The Tempest on Friday, May 22, and sat among the public toward the rear of the auditorium.
- On arrival he was welcomed by Warwickshire’s Lord Lieutenant Tim Cox and RSC co-artistic directors Daniel Evans and Tamara Harvey, with director Sir Richard Eyre seated nearby.
- During the interval the King toured the RSC costume archive, handling items linked to Judi Dench, David Tennant and Sir Antony Sher and calling the pieces “brilliant.”
- After the curtain call he was escorted backstage to meet the cast and creative team, thanked the more than 70 production staff and gave a standing ovation at the performance’s close.
- The visit underlines Charles’s role as RSC patron since 2024 and comes during a run that highlights Sir Kenneth Branagh’s first time as Prospero and Sir Richard Eyre’s RSC debut, with performances scheduled through 20 June.
