King Charles, David Beckham and Alan Titchmarsh Finalize ‘Curious Garden’ for Chelsea Flower Show

The showcase will promote horticulture careers by putting trainees to work onsite.

Overview

  • The King hosted Beckham, Titchmarsh and designer Frances Tophill at Highgrove last week to sign off plans for the RHS and King’s Foundation Curious Garden.
  • Tophill leads the design in her first Chelsea appearance, with the project championed by the King, a King’s Foundation ambassador in Beckham, and RHS veteran Titchmarsh.
  • The installation will feature a working beehive, seven raised beds nodding to Beckham’s No. 7, an oak “museum of curiosities,” delphiniums, and roses named for the three champions.
  • Craft and training sit at the heart of the build, including a hand‑made easel from the Snowdon School of Furniture and a commitment to keep materials free of man‑made elements.
  • Apprentices and trainees from RHS Wisley and Highgrove will help construct the garden at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, with the aim of drawing young people into horticulture ahead of next month’s show.
