Kia Unveils 2027 EV3 for U.S. at New York Auto Show

The move signals a push into the shrinking field of small, lower‑cost EVs.

Overview

  • Kia, which unveiled the U.S.-spec EV3 on Wednesday at the New York International Auto Show, said the small electric SUV will go on sale in late 2026 across five trims: Light, Wind, Land, GT-Line, and GT.
  • Buyers will get two battery choices with manufacturer estimates of about 220 miles from a 58.3 kWh pack or up to about 320 miles from an 81.4 kWh pack, with 10%–80% DC fast charges taking roughly 29 to 31 minutes.
  • Charging runs through a native Tesla-style North American Charging Standard port with Plug & Charge, and the EV can power devices (V2L) or a home (V2H) using a compatible Wallbox bidirectional charger.
  • The EV3 uses Kia’s 400‑volt E‑GMP platform rather than faster 800‑volt systems, and higher trims offer all‑wheel drive, while the GT variant is rated at 288 horsepower with a sport‑tuned suspension.
  • U.S. pricing remains undisclosed after earlier guidance of roughly $35,000, positioning the EV3 as a contender in a thinning affordable EV segment as rivals cut back entries such as Volvo’s EX30.
