Kia Seltos Earns 5-Star Bharat NCAP, Becomes Top-Scoring ICE SUV

The result sets a new benchmark for petrol and diesel SUVs in India under the government crash-test program.

Overview

  • The Seltos, which received its Bharat NCAP rating on Monday, scored 31.70 out of 32 for adult protection and 45 out of 49 for child protection, with the five-star result applied to all variants.
  • Crash data shows strong performance with 15.70 out of 16 in the frontal test, a full 16 out of 16 in the side barrier test, and child scores of 24 out of 24 for dynamics, 12 out of 12 for seat installation, and 9 out of 13 for vehicle assessment.
  • Bharat NCAP tested HTE (O) and GTX diesel-automatic units at a recorded 1,771 kg, confirming performance representative of the range.
  • Kia’s combined score of 76.70 makes the Seltos the highest-scoring internal-combustion model tested so far and it edges the Tata Sierra by small margins in both adult (31.70 vs 31.14) and child (45.00 vs 44.73) scores.
  • Standard safety includes six airbags, ESC and ISOFIX mounts, with Level 2 ADAS on higher trims, though knee and side‑pelvis airbags are absent and ISOFIX points are limited to the rear outboard seats; Kia is also preparing optional GTX (O) and X‑Line (O) variants with a head‑up display and a dealer‑fit dashcam.
