Overview
- Khajuraho Airport has been ranked India’s top airport in the Airports Authority of India Customer Satisfaction Index even though scheduled commercial flights have been suspended since July 1.
- The AAI CSI is based on passenger feedback collected January–June 2026 and measures 33 service parameters such as cleanliness, signage, washrooms and staff behaviour rather than flight numbers or connectivity.
- Airport Director Santosh Singh says the pause reflects airline operational and commercial planning factors like aircraft availability, route changes, crew management and slot allocation, and he expects services to restart in September or later.
- Local reports and some outlets say runway or technical works caused the suspension, creating a conflicting account of the cause that has not been resolved by independent confirmation.
- The airport remains operational, has added more than 25 passenger amenities and handled about 40,000 passengers in Jan–Jun 2026, but restored airline schedules will be crucial for Khajuraho’s winter tourist season and the local economy.
