Overview
- A jury at Woolwich Crown Court found the 63-year-old guilty of causing an explosion likely to endanger life and of possessing three prohibited weapons.
- Prosecutors said he placed a home-made metal cylinder bomb beside a newly installed camera on Willersley Avenue in Sidcup on 6 December 2023, lit the fuse, and fled.
- The explosion hurled shrapnel into cars and homes, shook nearby houses, and sent debris more than 100 metres into a child’s bedroom window frame, with no injuries reported.
- CCTV tracked his Smart car to Shuttle Close and captured a man walking to the site before the blast, while device remnants showed black powder consistent with a home-made explosive.
- A search of his home uncovered aluminium powder, iron oxide and a chemicals price list, plus three working homemade stun guns; sentencing will take place at a later date.
